Elijah and the prophets of Baal

This week we met Elijah. A man who faced many challenges. One of the accounts of Elijah is his encounter with those who put their faith in Baal, a man made god. Elijah challenged them to a contest. Elijah was so sure of his Lord, that he stacked the odds against himself. The challenge was to call out to Baal and to God to light the altars. However much the other prophest called to Baal, there was no response, yet Elijahs call to the Lord saw the altar fire lit in spite of the vast ammounts of water that had been used to wet the wood.

Do we have that same faith in God?

Come and meet Job...

This week we started a new topic: People from teh Old Testament, in order for the children to develop and grow, it is impotant for them to be introduced to some of the people they will come to meet, this week we met Job. It can be a confusing story even for adults, so we didn't try and cover the whole book. Instead we looked at Gods awesome power and knowledge andJob's and our own limited understanding of life. When God spoke with Job, he did not condem him, though hed did make him realise how little Job could understand, yet God also saw that Job had been faithful to him inspite of his circumstances.

Are we able to keep our faith fixed in God, when we find things difficult?
